The word "crematorium" conjures up all sorts of unpleasant thoughts and imagery (and usually rightfully so) and when designing the Caring Paws Facility my goal was to design a space that was the complete opposite of the industry standard.
From the outside, the building looks like a typical, nondescript warehouse but the second you walk through the bright yellow door it’s as if you’ve been magically transported to the coziest of homes.
Once inside, you’re greeted with exposed bricks and beams, high ceilings, and lots of natural light- creating an environment that is relaxing, and inviting and comforting.
We have 2 private, sun-drenched Caring Rooms in which clients can spend as much (or as little) time in saying their final goodbyes. Each room includes white noise machines (for added privacy), plenty of tissue, and essential oils designed to reduce stress.
Immediately outside the Caring Rooms, is a large gathering area, a full kitchen, a kegerator (filled with sparkling water and soda), and unique distractions on exhibit like a vintage phone booth, vintage bicycles, and other oddities my loving wife won’t permit at home.
The Crematorium is located on-site (on the other side of the building) and is 100% out-of-sight.
That being said, I’m beyond proud of the cleanliness of our entire facility and our commitment to transparency, so if a client wants to actually view and/or inspect the Crematorium I can and do provide tours.
